About:

Jeffrey W. Herrmann is the St. Abbo of Fleury Endowed Chair in Engineering at the Catholic University of America, where he is an ordinary professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He also has an appointment as a research professor at the University of Maryland. Dr. Herrmann earned his B.S. in applied mathematics from Georgia Institute of Technology and received his Ph.D. in industrial and systems engineering from the University of Florida. Professor Herrmann’s research interests include decision-making by autonomous systems and engineering decision-making and risk management. He recently published the book Metareasoning for Robots: Adapting in Dynamic and Uncertain Environments.
